Unglaublich: Eine Aktualisierung - Unblievable: an update

Es ist wirklich seltsam: Ich habe echte Schwierigkeiten, die Aktualisierungsrate auf einigermaßen hohem Nivau zu halten. Dies wird deswegen ein etwas längerer Eintrag, da er sich mit der gesamten letzten Woche befasst.
Wenig besonderes gab es auf Arbeit. Ich verstehe das Prozessgeschehen besser und kenne die Leute. Von Dienstag bis Donnerstag gab es Logistik-Schulungen; dazu reisten Mitarbeiter aus dem Stammland an. Alles in allem bin ich arbeitstechnisch ausgelastet, zufrieden und optimistisch. Langfristig geht es um die Optimierung von Lagerbeständen. Was mir etwas fehlt, ist eine Kantine. Das bin ich aus Uni-Zeiten gewohnt. Es war so bequem, nur über die Straße gehen zu müssen und dann etwas Warmes essen zu können. Aber man gewöhnt sich daran und lernt den Nährwert von Brot, Butter, Wurst und Obst zu schätzen :-) Seit wann sagen die Österreicher eigentlich „Jänner“ zu Januar?
Am Mittwoch waren die Mitarbeiter und ich in der ersten Bowlingbahn in Sibiu. Sie wurde vor drei Jahren eröffent. Es geht aufwärts ;-) Etwas abseits gelegen, aber gut belegt. Bowling macht Spass. Nebenbei konnte ich auf einem großen Fernseher die Zwischenstände der letzten WM-Qualifikationsspiele verfolgen. Polen gegen England wurde live gezeigt. Leider stand zu diesem Zeitpunkt schon fest, dass Rumänien bei der WM 2006 nicht spielberechtigt ist. Ausschlaggebend waren die Tschechen, die wenig Probleme mit der finnischen Mannschaft hatten. Schade, ein Unentschieden in diesem Spiel hätte Rumänien gereicht. Dafür ist Schweden dabei, stimmt´s Nils?
Ansonsten habe ich kaum einen Tag zu Hause verbracht. Dienstag gehe ich ja (hoffentlich regelmäßig) aus Gewohnheit zur wöchentlichen Sitzung des Lokalkomitees von AIESEC, um Neuigekeiten aufzuschnappen und zu zeigen, dass der deutsche Praktikant noch lebt :-) Dabei fällt mir ein, dass ich kurz bei einer Vorstellung der Organisation als Praktikant ein bisschen ausgeholfen habe. Zum Meister des Vortrages werde ich wohl nie werden, erst recht nicht in englischer Sprache. Aber dennoch glaube ich, dass mich die neugierigen Studenten verstanden haben.
Was mir besonders gefällt, sind die Gespräch (meist in Englisch) mit den Studenten. Man bekommt interessante Informationen über ehemalige Eisschnelllaufkarrieren (Julie) und rumänisch Nationalgerichte (Roxi). Noch besser ist es, wenn mann dabei ein Bier trinkt – und es gibt in Sibiu viele Möglichkeiten dafür. Genau das habe ich am Dienstag und Donnerstag gemacht.
Was ich zu meiner Schande noch erwähnen muss: mein erster Besuch bei McDonalds seit Beginn des Praktikums. Hoffentlich nicht zu häufig, denn beispielsweise Obst und Gemüse ist erstens gesund und schmeckt zweitens besser bzw. frischer als in Deutschland. Wirklich lecker!

It's pretty strange: I have really difficulties to keep the rate of updates on a high level. Due to this reason the following entry will be a bit longer.
Concerning work nothing exciting happened. I learn to understand the processes more and more and also get to know the colleagues more deeply. A long term goal could be to reduce the cost for stocks, that means to do optimization in logistics. During the week, from Tuesday to Thursday, employees from Austria came and conducted a bit of training on production planning and scheduling. Very interesting. Alltogether I am quite busy, satisfied and optimistic. One thing I miss is a canteen, at university it was very easy for me: I just had to cross the street and was already standing in front of my warm meal at lunchtime. But nevertheless: bread, butter, sausages and fruits are also very saturating. By the way, there are also differences between German and Austrian language. For example, the month January is called 'Januar' in German, but 'Jaenner' in the area around Vienna. Perhaps not that important, but I just decided to mention it :-)
On Wednesday evening a few employees and me visited the first bowling center in Sibiu. It is far away from the city center, has been existing for three years and was visited very well. Bowling is really funny :-) Beside that I had finally the chance to watch some soccer: the world cup qualifiers were presented on a big television screen. England played against Poland, and also the other results were shown on the buttom of the screen. Unfortunatly, Czech Republic won against Finland 3-0, so Romania won't participate in World Cup 2006. It's a pity! But nevertheless, Sweden is qualified directly. Isn't it, Nils?
What happened else... Normally I visit the AIESEC meetings of the local commitee every evening, to be up to date concerning activities and to show that the German trainee is still alive :-) Last week there were presentations to gain new members, and I talked a bit concerning my experiences as a new trainee in Romania. I probably never will be a great speaker, but I think the curious students got my point of view.
What I also like are the talks with Romanian people. Last week I did that on Tuesday and Thursday. You get interesting information for example about careers in speed skating (Julie) or traditional Romanian food (Roxi). The atmosphere becomes - of course - better, if you are drinking a beer besides that. And Sibiu offers a lot of great locations for this kind of activity :-)
To conclude: Unfortunately I have to confess that I was at McDonalds in Sibiu for the first time. This actually is not neccessary, because Romanian food - for example fruits and vegetables - is very tasty and really fresh. Delicious :-)
