... das ist Rumänien - ... this is Romania

Rückblick, dritter Oktober. Erster Arbeitstag. Tag der deutschen Einheit, aber das gilt diesmal nicht für mich. Miruna zeigt mir den Weg zur Firma (ein österreichisches Unternehmen, das Dachsteine herstellt: www.bramac.com) und es gibt ein erstes Einführungsgespräch mit dem Chef, alles sehr locker. Die Vorstellungsrunde ist allmählich nichts neues mehr für mich; die Kollegen und Kolleginnen sind glücklicherweise recht jung (zwischen 25 und 35 Jahren) und - mittlerweile keine so große Überraschung mehr - sehr freundlich zu mir. Die Aufgaben werden mir zugeteilt, sie sollten lösbar sein. Liviu, mit dem mir vorerst ein Büro teile, nimmt mich am Nachmittag mit auf seine Einkaufstour. Es sollen lediglich schnell ein paar bestellte Werkzeuge für die Produktion abgeholt werden. Doch so einfach ist das nicht - er scheitert schlicht und ergreifend an der rumänischen Mentalität. Denn zumindest die des Werkzeugshändler ist nicht derart dienstleistungsorientiert, wie man es von Deutschland her kennt. Nach ein paar, Diskussionen, unzähligen Dokumenten und einem kurzen Besuch beim Chef der Firma (erwähnte ich die 120 verstrichenen Minuten?) ist es geschafft: Alles ist im Auto verstaut und kann zur Firma gefahren werden. Lustig: ich lerne während der ganzen Diskussion um korrekte Rechnungen und richtige Liefermengen einige rumänischen (Grund)zahlen und deren Aussprache. So hat die Warterei zumindest für mich einen positiven Nebeneffekt. Liviu schüttelt danach einfach nur seine Kopf und merkt knapp an: "... this is Romania".
Am Abend gibt es noch einen kurzen Besuch im AIESEC-Büro und Rares feiert mit mir und ein paar seiner Kumpels sein erstes Gehalt.

Review, October 3rd. Today´s my first day of work. Miruna guides me to the place where the company (an Austrian firm which produces tiles: www.bramac.com) is situated. Did I mention that on October 3rd the national holiday is celebrated in Germany? Well, for me it's not that important this year... but anyway, now you're a bit mor clever :-) The introduction talk with the manager of the company is somehow nothing new for me; the employees are relatively young (between 25 and 35 years) and - what a surprise - very nice concerning my person. The tasks I have to solve are quite interesting, I think I'm able to deal with them. I also see the production processes of the company. Within the first days I share an office with Liviu, in the afternoon we shall quickly by some tools for the firm. The intersting word is 'quickly'. The Romanian service mentality of the tool trader's employees isn't comparable to Germany. Finally, after a lot of discussions, signatures and a visit in the office of the CEO it's possible: the tools can be stored in the car (after a waste of time of about 120 minutes). Liviu just shakes his head and says: '... this is Romania'. But there is a positve effect at least for me: During the discussons about amounts of materials and formulation of contracts I learn some Romanian numbers.
In the evening I visit shortly the AIESEC office and Rares celebrates his first salary. A few of his friends and I are invited.
